As Project Manager for The Journey Home App, a mobile app prototype developed in Spring 2025 for the Athens-based nonprofit Moms Adopting Moms, I led a five-person interdisciplinary team through research, user interviews, design, testing, and development to create a tool that supports biological mothers working to reunify with their children in foster care. Centering empathy and emotional storytelling, our team designed features like a step-by-step case plan pathway, integrated calendar, progress tracker, local resource directory, and encouraging messages to reduce overwhelm and build momentum. We used Figma, Canva, Google Docs, and Slack to create both the prototype and a supportive brand identity that reflected trust, growth, and warmth. Our work was shaped by interviews and usability testing with mothers who had firsthand experience, and their feedback validated the app’s emotional and practical relevance.
This project — the capstone of my New Media Certificate — reflected everything I learned about user-centered design, accessible tech, and digital storytelling, and reinforced my passion for leading human-focused digital work that makes a tangible impact.
