This series is one of the\u00a0best teen dramas\u00a0around, and good news for fans of all things Cousins Beach: we’re getting\u00a0The Summer I Turned Pretty\u00a0<\/em>season 3! Considering the third book,\u00a0We’ll Always Have Summer<\/em>, revolves around Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah, we’re expecting\u00a0The Summer I Turned Pretty\u00a0<\/em>cast\u00a0to include Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno. We’re also hoping to see Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer,\u00a0Jackie Chung, and Rachel Blanchard again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a variety of cast members were spotted around\u00a0Wilmington, North Carolina, fans were hoping to see Christopher Briney \u2014 and it looks like he has finally arrived! “CONRAD FISHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR IS HOMEEEEEEEEEEE,” one X user says along with\u00a0an image of Christopher Briney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When will The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 come out?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We were hoping to see\u00a0The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em>\u00a0season 3 return in 2024, but thanks to the industry strikes during the summer of 2023, it looks like we might not get our first episode until 2025. Okay, TBH that’s a total bummer (just because we can’t wait to watch!!), but here’s hoping it will premiere in the spring of 2025 \u2014 to make the summer even better!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lola Tung starred as Euridyce in\u00a0Hadestown\u00a0<\/em>on Broadway until March 17, 2024. During the official press day \u2014 which you can watch on\u00a0TikTok<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 she told me that while she doesn’t know too much about Belly’s arc this season, she’s just as excited to return to Cousins Beach as we are!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m just very excited to be back with everyone and to be able to step back into Belly’s shoes, I’m super excited,” she says. According to\u00a0@FilmUpdates<\/a>\u00a0on X (formerly Twitter), it looks like the show will begin filming the week of March 19. According to the\u00a0Wilmington Regional Film Commission,\u00a0The Summer I Turned Pretty\u00a0<\/em>season 3 is officially in production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we don’t know who Conrad will end up with in\u00a0The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em> season 3, there is one theory that suggests his reunion with Belly will be better than ever. Lola Tung, Rain Spencer, Gavin Casalegno, and other cast members have been spotted around Wilmington \u2014 all except Chris Briney. @julevere<\/a> wonders if they’re filming in chronological order for one specific reason.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You don’t see Conrad for ages in book 3,” she says. “What if Jenny [Han] is doing that on purpose so the actual moment in the show where Conrad and Belly see each other for the first time, [in a way] that’s going to be the first legitimate time those two actors as…Belly and Conrad will see each other.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waiting as long as possible for Lola Tung and Chris Briney to see each other means that Belly and Conrad’s reunion will be more intense, and bring up all the old emotions (and infinity necklaces) that came up during season 2. If there’s one thing this show has taught me, it’s that you can only run from your feelings for so long and as a member of #TeamConrad, I’m hoping any reunion between the two brings them together for potential future seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How old are the characters?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In season one, Conrad is going to be a freshman in college, while the rest of the characters are still in high school. And at the beginning of season 2, Steven graduates from high school!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though\u00a0The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em>\u00a0is set on the coast of Massachusetts, the show is filming in\u00a0Wilmington, North Carolina. This city is actually pretty well known in Hollywood \u2014 projects like\u00a0Iron Man 3<\/em>, One Tree Hill<\/em>, and\u00a0Outer Banks<\/em>\u00a0have filmed there! As someone who grew up going to Wilmington every single summer, I can promise you it’s just as pretty as it looks (and the fair from season 2 is just as fun!!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is not a fourth\u00a0The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em>\u00a0book, but that doesn’t mean the show has to end with season 3. They’ve already changed a few details from the books \u2014 namely, adding the Stephen\/Taylor relationship reminds me of how\u00a0Gossip Girl\u00a0<\/em> gave us Chuck and Blair, a fan-favorite ship that wasn’t in those books either! I’m excited to see how the story (and the characters) continue to grow and evolve!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
